Bee Wise Book, Bier Basel, and Grooves Old and New

Broadcast on:
18 March, 2025

This week on The English Show, we’re still buzzing from Fasnacht, and to keep the buzz going, we’re talking bees. In the new book Bee Wise, lead author Philip Atkinson combines his work as a business coach and beekeeper to offer insights into leadership learned from the beehive. Atkinson and guest writers have twelve lessons that cover everything from organisation to creativity. Sales of the book benefit the nonprofit Bees for Development.

Philip has one free copy of the book to give away, so if you're in the Basel area and you'd like to get your hands on the book, contact Philip at busy@beewisebook.com! First come, first served. Listen to the interview here.

On the culture calendar, we preview some of the highlights of the upcoming week in Basel’s arts and culture life, including a screening of Amadeus with live orchestration, two shows at the Fondation Beyeler, and the upcoming Basel Bier Festival.

And while we’re anticipating spring but still dealing with a bit of a chill in the air, we decided to make our musical theme grooves old and new, with a mix of fresh tracks and some retro favorites. We played:

Calimossa - Planet X

Caye - 2O20

Gene Page - Blacula

James Brown - I got the feeling

Random Rab - The Reflection

TEEMID - Sexy and know it

The Chemical Brothers - Go
